Life Stream Blood Bank

WHO WE ARE

LifeStream is a non-profit 501(c)(3) blood center founded in 1951 as the Blood Bank of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. In 2008, the organization’s name was changed to better reflect the breadth of services offered and its expanding geographical service area.

Today, LifeStream provides blood products and services to more than 80 Southern California hospitals and medical facilities in six counties. To fulfill patient need, LifeStream must collect 600 blood donations daily.

LifeStream is an affiliate member of Vitalant, a national blood services provider in 40 states.

OUR MISSION
Our mission is to help save lives by connecting donors and patients through the gift of blood.

To make this mission a reality, LifeStream has fixed-site donor centers in San Bernardino, Riverside, Ontario, Victorville, La Quinta and Murrieta where generous, volunteer blood donors can give the gift of life. To further ensure the convenience and comfort of donors, LifeStream conducts about 1,700 mobile blood drives annually throughout our service area at schools, churches, businesses, government offices, hospitals and service clubs.

CURRENT NEEDS

There is a constant need for blood and platelets. We would like to encourage anyone who is able to give, to visit our donor center in Riverside (4006 Van Buren Boulevard – Riverside, CA 92503).

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES / UPCOMING EVENTS

We have various events throughout the year, you can see an updated list by visiting  www.lstream.org/events

This Patriot Day (9/11), we want to present special recognition to our community’s volunteer, life-saving blood donors. Donating blood is a selfless act of kindness toward someone the donor will likely never know or meet. To show our appreciation on September 11 to those who give their most intimate gift – their own blood – we would like to present a “thank you” card acknowledging their good deed. To fulfill that commitment and to join us in honoring these unsung heroes, we ask that Riverside Unified School District students create approximately 1,000 personalized “thank you” cards to give LifeStream blood donors.

Typically, Patriot Day is a busy day at blood banks nationwide, as memories flash back to an unforgettably tragic day that inspired others to give of themselves as they has not before done. Eighteen years later, that spirit is still alive, as many first-time blood donors are moved to “do what they can” to help others. We believe and hope that by presenting them this token of appreciation by their community, they remember fondly their first time donating blood and are encouraged to become a regular donor.
