    CANCELLATIONS

    All cancellations for the annual Transfusion Medicine Forum must be made in writing and sent to aross@LStream.org. Cancellations received by Friday, February 21, 2020, will receive a full refund. Refunds will be processed within 30 days of cancellation.

    There will be no refunds for cancellations within one week of the Forum.

    CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS

    Six continuing education credits are offered for the annual Transfusion Medicine Forum. Documentation for continuing education credit will be provided for applicable clinical laboratory and nursing personnel at the close of the event. For those registering the day of the event, your certification will be mailed to you.

    ATTENDANCE POLICY

    You must attend all 6 courses to receive credit; no partial credit will be given for this event. If for any reason you are more than 20 minutes late to the start of the first presentation (8:20 a.m.), no credit will be offered; however, you are invited to stay and listen to the speakers.

    For individual volunteers, you can choose to:

    • serve as a youth counselor
    • assist in art classes
    • facilitate workshops on subjects such as college preparation and financial planning
    • help with cooking and cleaning

    For group volunteers, people can choose to:

    • Play group games with the youth such as Pictionary, Charades, and Taboo. •
    • Share their artistic side with the youth by doing art classes such as painting, drawing, jewelry making, and vision board.
    • Facilitate workshops on subjects such as college preparation and financial planning.
    • Interact with the youth while teaching them how to cook a meal or bake a tasty treat.
    • Play basketball or volleyball with the youth on our on-site basketball court.
    • Do exercise classes such as Yoga, Zumba, and other exercise dance.
    • Gardening may include planting our SafeHouse garden or pulling weeds.
    • Shelter maintenance may include painting, adopting a room and decorating it, if qualified light repairs throughout the shelter. Some physical activity if painting.
    • Collect non-perishable food items for our shelter.
    • Collect paper goods such as toilet paper, paper towels, Kleenex, paper plates, etc.
    • Collect uniforms for our emergency shelters, such as black or grey sweats or grey or black t-shirts in all sizes.
    • Sort boxes of donations, assisting in unloading the bus, assisting in organizing the storage sheds. Light to heavy lifting involved.

    This is a great opportunity for small youth groups and families to serve

    High school and college students can also volunteer if they need hours.

      Operation SafeHouse

      One of our greatest gifts is volunteers from the community.

      Click the links below to find out what positions we have available for individual and group volunteers

      For individual volunteers, you can choose to:

      • serve as a youth counselor
      • assist in art classes
      • facilitate workshops on subjects such as college preparation and financial planning
      • help with cooking and cleaning
      • make repairs as a handyman
      • serve as an office assistant.

      For group volunteers, people can choose to:

      • Play group games with the youth such as Pictionary, Charades, and Taboo. •
      • Share their artistic side with the youth by doing art classes such as painting, drawing, jewelry making, and vision board.
      • Facilitate workshops on subjects such as college preparation and financial planning.
      • Interact with the youth while teaching them how to cook a meal or bake a tasty treat.
      • Play basketball or volleyball with the youth on our on-site basketball court.
      • Do exercise classes such as Yoga, Zumba, and other exercise dance.
      • Gardening may include planting our SafeHouse garden or pulling weeds.
      • Shelter maintenance may include painting, adopting a room and decorating it, if qualified light repairs throughout the shelter. Some physical activity if painting.
      • Collect non-perishable food items for our shelter.
      • Collect paper goods such as toilet paper, paper towels, Kleenex, paper plates, etc.
      • Collect uniforms for our emergency shelters, such as black or grey sweats or grey or black t-shirts in all sizes.
      • Sort boxes of donations, assisting in unloading the bus, assisting in organizing the storage sheds. Light to heavy lifting involved.

      • Family Shelter Program: Administrative Duties, Arts and Crafts (Bring supplies), Birthday Club (Bring cake and ice cream), Movie Night Crew (Bring a movie and snacks), Drivers, Cleaning and Organizing Communal Areas, Playing Board Games (Bring games), Reading Time, Seasonal Decorating
      • Employment Program: Beauticians and Barbers, Career and Life Skills Mentors, Computer Literacy, Drivers, Education
      • Housing Programs: Gratitude Guru, HUD-Speak Researcher, Prayer Partner, Resource Broker, Storyteller, Volunteer Housing Navigator, Volunteer Outreach Navigator

      There are opportunities to mentor youth, develop skills in:

      1. Life Skills Training programs: Do you have a special skill or a passion that you would want to teach the youth? If so, please be a guest speaker for one of our Life Skills Training sessions.
        • Examples include: health education, budgeting, resume writing, interviewing skill, computer skill, and more
      2. Fundraising: We rely heavily on in-kind and financial donations from the community to keep the services and programs going.
        • We can use your help in securing donations and sponsorships as well as organizing and coordinating events.
      3. In-Kind Donations:  If you can give some of your time or know of someone who has a trade or skill that would benefit Inspire please contact us.

      This night welcomes past residents to come and participate to keep them connected in the community they choose to be.

      We meet monthly with some Holiday exceptions.

      From 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm. the women go to their support group and the children stay with the volunteers.

      We need volunteers for childcare: infants, preschoolers, and crafts for children ages 6 and up.

      This is a great opportunity for small youth groups and families to serve

      High school and college students can also volunteer if they need hours.

      If you are or you know a woman who struggles with abuse issues and could benefit from an evening similar to this please call the office for details.
